Friday 13th. July
So many certificates and awards in our celebration assembly today! Six more children achieved their 250 days of reading and we also had 3 KS2 children whose creative writing has been chosen as winners in the Broughton Hall Young Writer's Festival. We are so proud of you!
Christ Church celebrated the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Thursday 17th May by having a "street party" in our hall. The children loved wearing crowns and seeing all the Union flags and bunting. A big thank you, as always, goes to Mrs Sutton and the lunch staff who made this such a fun and memorable occasion!
On Friday 7th July, Afrasiab Anwar from Burnley Faith Centre came to visit us to discuss different aspects of Islam. With Years Two and Five, he discussed the Five Pillars of Islam, explaining them in great depth. The children got the chance to listen to passages of The Quran and repeated some of the Islamic prayers. We then responded by singing our own Lord's Prayer and compared the two. Afrasiab then showed us the Salah, explaining each process. The session finished with the children learning some of the Arabic alphabet and how to write the phrase "hubun w salam" or "peace and love" in English.
Welcome to the gallery! Please enjoy browsing the children’s work.
Before the snap election this summer, Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson visited Year Five and Six to talk about the day to day life of an MP and what to expect in the coming election.
