Christ Church Reading Ambassadors from Y4-Y6 at the Pendle Reading Challenge #read to achieve' Dragons Den'!

Snuggle up with a book!

We had a  cosy afternoon snuggling up with our Christmas  books in our house teams. Year 6 children took their reception buddies and we spent a lovely couple of hours  sharing stories with the teachers and each other whilst enjoying lounging in our Onesies - our teddies even  came along. It was just what we needed after a yummy Christmas dinner (thanks Mrs Sutton!).

Pendle Reading Challenge- the Launch! What a brilliant morning we had- 7 of the reading ambassadors, accompanied by Mr Peers and Mrs Rayner, travelled to Holt House Rugby club to join 15 other schools for the Launch of the Pendle Reading challenge.   It was very exciting as the TV cameras were there from Granada news - we were on the T.V! At the launch we had to read a poem and share our favourite books. Most intriguing was the scrapbook challenge which all the schools are collaborating on- our challenge is Stories from other places. We are meeting this week to discuss our ideas.

World Book Day 2nd March 2017

World Book Day & Non Uniform Day:

Next Thursday (2nd March) is World Book Day. This annual event is set aside every year to celebrate the joy and value of books and reading, especially for children. To help get them started on their reading journey, every child receives a £1 World Book Day Book Token that can either be exchanged for one of TEN special £1 World Book Day books or used to get £1 off any book costing £2.99 or more. You can find out more about the books at www.worldbookday.com

At Christ Church we will be celebrating the joy of reading by enjoying a ‚ÄėSnuggle up with a Book‚Äô Day. We are encouraging the children to come to school dressed up in onesies/pyjamas ready to enjoy a good book and escape into the magical world of reading.

World Book Day

Year Two have been busy using non-fiction books for research. They are writing non-chronological reports this week.
