Day 1 (06.07.20)

Good morning Year 5 smiley

We hope you had a lovely weekend. I am guessing it was quite a relaxed one, with all the wet and windy weather we had. It was a nice and relaxed weekend in the Canipa house with baking, den building and some movies. We even squeezed in a walk between the bursts of rain for some fresh air. Fingers crossed for some drier weather this week.

Here are your tasks for today:

Maths:   This week’s lessons are about Geometry (shape).

Watch today’s video and then have a go at the worksheet:

This is "Year 5 - Week 11 - Lesson 1 - Regular and irregular polygons" by White Rose Maths on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who...

English:

Our theme for this week is Pixar Perfect.

Be prepared to laugh, cry and everything in between as you delve into three of Pixar’s best shorts.

!! When following links online, parents should monitor that children are remaining on that page only and are keeping safe online !!

Watch and enjoy the Pixar short, Piper on YouTube here – Piper Pixar short film 2016 full:

Watch the film again, concentrating on the thoughts and feelings of Piper and Piper’s parent at these key points:

You may wish to use this format to support you.

Once you have gathered the thoughts and feelings for Piper and Piper’s parent, create a free verse poem (no rules poem) for either character.

You may want to use the thoughts and feelings you jotted down.

Look at improving some of your vocabulary by using a thesaurus or www.wordhippo.com and presenting these as a poem, such as:

Piper

Breakfast time -
Hurray!
Confused,
Why is Mummy not
returning?
Desperate, starving.
Let’s go and meet
her.
Search for food
myself?
Has she lost her
mind?
CRASH
Bewildered,
Petrified, horrified.
What was that?

As last week, we will post up English and maths tasks on the daily page, but all other suggested activities will be posted under the ‘Additional Activities’ icon. You can choose any of the activities to complete on any day.

As always, have a great day. Keep in touch – maybe send us a photo or email telling us what you’ve been getting up to.
