Day 1 (15.06.20)

Good morning Year 5,

We hope you had a lovely weekend.

It’s been lovely weather over my way. We have spent most of the weekend in the garden finishing off a few jobs whilst Evie and Harry had a few water fights. I bet you can guess who their target was – yes – me!! I was soaked with the hose pipe on quite a few occasions! I managed to get them back though! 😊

How did you get on with the quiz on Friday? Did you find it tricky? I have posted up the answers on the remote learning home page so you can check whether you were right.

Here are your tasks for today:

Maths:

We are continuing our work on fractions this week.

Watch the video and then complete the activity below.

Year 5 - Week 6 - Lesson 1 - Multiply unit and non-unit fractions by integers

This is "Year 5 - Week 6 - Lesson 1 - Multiply unit and non-unit fractions by integers" by White Rose Maths on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos...

English:

Our focus theme for the next fortnight will be Titanic. This week we will concentrate on the Titanic before it sank.

Read about Titanic here, jotting down key facts that interest you:

https://www.dkfindout.com/uk/history/titanic/

Now read Titanic Facts and Figures and watch the video about how Titanic was built, jotting down key information:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z8mpfg8/articles/zng8jty#

Based on what you have read about Titanic so far and the notes you have made, create a ‘True or False’ game for a member of your family or teacher to answer.

Don’t forget to write the answers, too – giving an explanation of the correct fact if the answer is false.

Themed Week:

This week, we are asking you to complete activities based on the theme ‘Houses’. Below is a document full of ideas and activities linked to homes. Have a read through them and each day, try to pick a different activity to complete. Remember – these are only suggested activities and you don’t need to do them all.

We would love to see some of photos of your finished work 😊.

Have a lovely day,

Mrs Canipa and Miss Wood

        😊                      😊
