Day 1 (18.05.20)

Good morning Year 5,

We hope you had a lovely weekend. Miss Wood is in school this week, so you’re stuck with me for the week 😊. If you have any questions or queries about your work, please email me. I’ve heard the weather is meant to be hot mid-week, fingers crossed they’ve got it right.

A quick thank you to those children who have sent photos of their deforestation posters and flower dissections. There is some great home learning taking place - well done on your hard work everyone. I've popped your photos into folders on our main class page. If anyone would like to share what they have been getting up to, please email us.

It’s true, I am going to be in school this week but I couldn’t go back on my promise to congratulate those who attempted my Sumdog challenge. So a big well done to: Jessica W, Jessica O, Lexie P, Gracie, Lexie T, Jack, George M, Harris, Millie, Lukas and Lewis (who almost completed the challenge!).

Well done to Jessica W and George M for the most games played and to Lexie T for the best accuracy (100% - wow!).  Great work all of you! yes    Miss Wood laugh

Here are your tasks for the week:

Today we will be learning about perimeter. Please can you:

a) Read page 42 and 43 in your workbook and then answer question 4 on page 50 and questions 10,11 and 13       on page 51.

 b) Have a look at the White Rose link below.

(Go to Summer term – Week 3 – Lesson 4 ‘Calculate Perimeter’). Watch the video and have a go at the worksheet.

This week we are continuing our work on Life cycles. So far, we have looked at the different parts of a flower. Today, we will learn about the important role each of these parts play in plant reproduction. Have a look at the PowerPoint below.

I would like you to now write a brief explanation of how plants reproduce from what you have learnt. Use one of the activities below to help you. You can either choose:

  • 2 star – fill in the missing words
  • 3 star (challenge) – complete the sentences

Please can you complete the comprehension about the Life Cycle of Flowering Plants. (You can either print out it out or write your answers to the questions on a piece of paper).

We hope you have a great day,

Mrs Canipa and Miss Wood
