Day 1 (01.06.20)

Morning Everyone!

We hope that you’ve had a great week and that you have enjoyed spending time with your family, particularly if one or both of your parents were able to take some time off work.

So summer 2, the final half term of Year 5, is with us. We would dearly love to be in school with you to enjoy this final half term – we miss you all terribly – but we are determined to remain positive and thankful for small things (such as the glorious sunshine of the past few weeks).

Please do keep in touch and let us know what you have been up to. Mrs Canipa is in school all this week and I will be in at times over the course of the week, but we are still contactable and will try to respond to your e-mails as soon as possible.

Here are your tasks for today:

  • Maths – Fractions focus this week. Revision of learning covered in class.

                       Visit:   [click]  https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-5/

                 Choose:   Summer Term – Week 4 (w/c 11th May).  Lesson 2 – Equivalent Fractions.

        (a) Watch the video and then complete the activity below:

(b) The corresponding pages in your maths workbook are page 27 for information and page 38 question 7 to test yourself.

  • English – This is your English work for the entire week. Either work through part of it each day or pick and choose activities that appeal to you (but do try for a balance of reading, writing and grammar skills if you can).
  • PSHCE – This week’s Picture News resource is all about the jobs that people choose and why they choose them. We are setting this as a discussion task. You might share your ideas with people in your household or with your friends or family over social media/a phone call (however you are keeping in touch).
  • R.E. – A special additional task today as yesterday was Pentecost Sunday – when the Holy Spirit visited the disciples after Jesus’ ascension to heaven. Find out more about Pentecost and engage in some deeper thinking using this resource from the diocese education team:

Take care,

Miss Wood and Mrs Canipa
