Day 2

Watch and listen to Here We Are:

Here We Are - Read Aloud Picture Book | Brightly Storytime (Note: this version contains some American spellings).

Here We Are is a sweet and gently humorous guide to humanity for children and their parents. Get the book: http://bit.ly/2W7zwBz For more children's book rec...

Talk about the book. Ask your child: Who do you think Oliver Jeffers wrote this book for? Why do you think he wrote the book? (He wrote it for his baby son to help him make sense of the world).
It is full of key advice. Listen to the clip again and pause at key points to make a note of the advice Oliver Jeffers gives throughout the book, e.g. You have a body. Look after it, as most bits don’t grow back. Some pieces of advice are given to you; others you will have to read between the lines and discuss! Do you agree with the advice he gives? Can you think of any other advice you would like to add?
Create a poster with the book title: Here We Are in the middle. Around the outside in boxes or bubbles, write down the advice that Oliver Jeffers gives.
Colour and decorate your poster to make it as attractive as possible.
Display your poster in your house – somewhere where everyone can see!
