Day 4 (30.04.20)

Hello and good morning Year 5,

We hope you are all ok. Another day of rubbish weather predicted but not to worry, we have a few tasks that can keep you busy for the day 😊

Today, please can you watch the video – Equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages (under week 2 – lesson 5). Then try and have a go at the follow up activity.

Still sticking to our rainforest topic, we would like you to write an acrostic poem using either the word RAINFOREST or EXPLORER.

An acrostic poem is a poem where certain letters in each line spell out a word or phrase. Typically, the first letters of each line are used to spell the word for example:

However, if you fancy a challenge, you could try using letters in different places in each line. For example:

Once you have finished your poem, decorate it with a border or pictures. We would love to see your finished poem so why not email us a picture and we can share it on our class page.

The rest of the afternoon is yours! 😊

If you would like something to do you could use some of your time to:

  • work on your Rainforest plant life presentation
  • Read a book of your choosing
  • Bake
  • Log into Sumdog and sharpen your maths skills
  • Create a 15-minute fitness programme – you might like to use Joe Wicks as your inspiration
  • Create a word search using words related to the rainforest (there is a rainforest glossary on Tuesday’s learning page last week to help you get started)
  • Continue to practise your coding skills on the Code for Life website

We hope you have a great day,

Mrs Canipa and Miss Wood
