Morning Reception Class,

Today is a rather sad day for me as I am leaving Christ Church after 5 years of teaching here. I am going to miss all of the children, parents and staff so much! I have thoroughly enjoyed working at this lovely school.

It is also a sad day as it is your last day in Reception (if you are in school). It has been lovely teaching Group A and I know Mrs Canipa, Mrs Tisley and Miss Marshall have enjoyed teaching Group B. I know the key worker children from Reception have been working hard and having lots of fun in their bubble groups. I wish we could have all been together for these last few weeks. I have missed teaching Group B, key worker children from Reception and children who are learning at home. I am so proud of how resilient and mature you have been throughout this difficult time. You should be so proud of yourselves too! smiley

Here are the suggested tasks for today:-

1. Phonics - Today, we are recapping on the phase 3 sound 'igh'. Below is a document with words with the 'igh' sound in. Some of the words are real and some of the words are fake. Colour  in the real words in one colour (e.g. red) and then colour in the fake words another colour (e.g. blue). Can you read all of the words correctly? Can you correctly identify which words are real and which words are fake?

2. Writing - Below is a document produced by the English team at Lancashire County Council. They have come up with some Literacy lessons for Reception Class. The theme this week is 'Shark in the Park'. Below is the grid with the activities on with links to videos, texts and resources for the week. I have picked out an activity for you to do each day. However, feel free to select a different activity if you feel that your child would benefit/enjoy doing that activity more. I would love to see your work. Feel free to send me any work on Tapestry.  smiley

Make a telescope and ask your child to pretend they are Timothy Pope.

Can they retell the story to their teddies or another adult?

Can they find things around the house with their telescope and write down what they find? E.g. hat, box, apple, dog, bed etc.

They could try to use the sounds they know to write down these words.

3. Maths - Today, we are continuing to recap on subtraction. Can you work out the answers to the subtraction number sentences below? Once you know the answers, follow the instructions as to what colours to use to decorate your plant picture below.

If you are up for a challenge, have a look at the 'Topic Challenges for this week' section under week 14 on the remote learning for Reception. Feel free to send me any photographs of any learning at home.

I hope that you all have a great day! smiley

Love

Miss Farnworth.
