Thursday 30th. April

Good morning! Can you believe it's the last day of April? This year is whizzing by!

ENGLISH/HISTORY TASK:

So we are going to find out a bit more about how the ancient Egyptians mummified the important people in their society after they died. Read the power point presentation and fact sheet below. They have all the information you need about how to mummify a body. You will love how the ancient Egyptians removed the brain! They didn't think that the brain was as important as the heart. When you have read the information have a go at making an information leaflet. I want you to think about how you would explain to someone the process of mummification if they were new to the job:

* What would they need to do?

* In what order? You might want to use Step 1/Step 2/etc.

* What are the names of the special equipment they would use?

Later on today, once you have learned how to be an expert embalmer, you can have a go at mummifying a tomato or an apple!

Over to you, Year 4 embalmers...

HISTORY/SCIENCE TASK:

Here is your chance to have a go at mummification. Follow the instructions on this power point. You don't have to use a tomato, an apple works just as well. If we were at school we would leave this investigation to develop over quite a few days. It's also interesting to set up a control experiment - so have another piece of tomato/apple that you don't mummify. Then you can compare the two. You don't have to do the written task unless you want to - you more or less did it in your English task earlier. Good luck! Make sure you tidy up after yourself! surprise
