Tuesday 21.4.20

Tuesday 21st. April

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Here's your learning for today.

A quick read today - find out how the ancient Egyptians worshipped cats.

Let's revise the names and properties of 3D shapes (thinking about how the ancient Egyptians are famous for constructing pyramids!)

Watch this clip and then have a go at making one of the 3D shapes from the nets provided. Remember to think about faces, edges and vertices (corners).

Ask yourself questions like this to check your knowledge:

Q: How do I know that this is a cube?

A: I know this is a cube because it has 6 square faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices.

There's also an annoying song for when you have finished!

Today, I would like you to think about where Egypt is located in the world. Which continent is it on? Where on that continent is Egypt to be found? What sort of size and shape is the country of Egypt? If you have an atlas, get it out and find Egypt. Alternatively, you might want to use Google Earth. What do you notice is the main geographical feature that runs down the length of Egypt? Yes!!! It's a river - The River Nile. Have a look at these power point presentations to find out why the River Nile is so important to Egypt.

Now have a go at writing down the reasons you have found about why the River Nile is so important to the country. Use this worksheet.
Finally, have a go at this map activity. If you can't print it out you can draw your own map and put the features on yourself.
