Here are the challenges for today:-

1. Phonics:-

Just a reminder - there is an online Phonics session on the '5 minute fun' page on facebook. Ask an adult to let you watch and join in after 10am today. On Monday, the lesson was all about hearing sounds in words. I believe the lesson today is on word building. I hope you enjoy watching and joining in with the Phonics lesson!

Adam in our class has found some fun Phonic videos on YouTube. He wanted to share them with his friends. smiley Below are some of the videos that he found. The videos are recapping on the 'sh', 'oa' and 'igh' sounds that we learnt in class last half - term.

Today, we are learning two new tricky words. They are 'there' and 'were'. Ask an adult if they can write them on a piece of paper and either stick them up in your house or in your garden. Ask an adult to shout the word out and then you need to run to the correct word. Give yourself a point for every word you read correctly. How many points can you get?

Have a listen to the tricky word song I posted on here yesterday. Can you spot the tricky words that we learnt yesterday?

Then have a try at pages 54 and 55 in your Phonics CGP book. Can you spot the tricky words that you have learnt today?

2. Writing - Did you watch 'Zog' yesterday or did an adult read the book to you? If not, here is the link for you to watch again today.

In the story, the princess dreams of being something else when she grows up. Can you write a dream for yourself for when you grow up? What do you want to be, and why? You can use the template below if you like.

3. Maths:-

Starter - Have a try at the number of the week activity below. The number is 8. Can you work out the answers to all of the challenges? Ready, steady, GO!!

Remember this week, we are learning about subtraction. Below is an activity that you can do at home. First, collect 10 of your toys. This could be dolls, teddies, cars, trains, dinosaurs, unicorns etc. Then, close your eyes and ask an adult to take some objects away. Can you work out how many are left? Can you write the number sentence to show how many are left? Maybe, you could send me some of your number sentences on Tapestry. I would love to see your work. smiley

Then, have a try at page 15 in your Maths CGP book. Can you work out the subtraction number sentences?

Optional challenges:-

Maths - Below are some challenges and games that you may wish to play at home with your family including the White Rose Maths challenge day 3 (https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/). Enjoy! smiley

Topic Challenge - Today, it is Earth day. Ask an adult if they will read the Powerpoint below to help you learn the importance of Earth day. Then, choose one or more of the activities below to have a go at. Enjoy!

I hope you all have a lovely day of home learning.

Take care, keep smiling and stay safe.

Love

Miss Farnworth. smiley
