Hello and welcome to Year 5's page.

I'm Mrs Hill, the teacher for Year 5.

This is a really important year, when we work hard to secure key skills before the move in to Year 6. The more we can secure this year, the easier next year becomes.

This means that reading regularly at home is an absolute must, as the texts that we share in class will become increasingly difficult, and the more familiar your child is with tackling harder vocabulary and the more fluently he/she can read, the easier all learning in class will become.

It is hoped that by now your child call recall all times and divide tables facts to 12. If this isn't the case, it's definitely something to focus on at home this term. If he/she is able to recall these facts instantly, there are many other facts to learn! Your child has access to fact sheets in class that can also be copied for use at home.
