Our Vision Statement is built on the notion of the school being a large family. Acutely aware that we are part of God’s family, together `We are pilgrims on a journey, fellow trav’lers on the road; we are here to help each other, walk the mile and bear the load’.
The vision talks also about how as Christians together we will grow in the ‘light of Christ’. This is derived from: John 8:12 Good News Translation (GNT)
Jesus the Light of the World:
12 Jesus spoke to the Pharisees again. “I am the light of the world,” he said. “Whoever follows me will have the light of life and will never walk in darkness.”
At Christ Church we follow the light of Christ; value and nurture all; grow and learn together; adults provide high quality educational experiences enabling all to be the best that we can be as uniquely talented individuals in God’s world.
We also created our ‘tree of life’ - the concept of which was taken from John’s Gospel (John 15:5-8)
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
Christian Values
It is essential for a church school to be able to define and describe the Christian distinctiveness in the values that underpin its life and work. Each member of the school community should understand, accept and try to demonstrate these Christian values.
Core Values
At Christ Church there are three ‘Core’ values that underpin our life and work, they are central to all we do within school. These are also the key values illustrated in the life and death of Jesus. They are:
Other Christian Values
Each year, through worship the children will explore six additional values. These will be explored over the course of a half term. They are a mixture of Christian values described in the Bible as ‘Fruits of the Spirit’ and ‘characteristic’ Christian values found in the teaching of Jesus. The values rotate over a three year period as follows:
