Children in Need

Friday 17th November 2023

Christ Church School Council have been talking about what we should do for Children in Need. Children across school have voted for non-school uniform and extra play. Our theme is yellow and spotty or any bright colour. Please donate what you can to take part.

AND why not pay for extra play?!

Let's see how much we can raise this year for such a good cause!

Talulah, in Year 3, has raised money for the school by climbing one of the highest mountains in the UK. She has donated the money to spend on playtime equipment. The School Council designed a questionnaire for the school to find out the equipment children would like. We are looking forward to receiving our new playtime equipment.

Welcome to our new School Council 2023 - 2024!

We've had a very special day today in school holding elections for our new School Council Representatives.

Juniors all went to vote in our official polling station, modelling a realistic democratic election process.

Ballots have been cast, counted and representatives elected. Two of our older representatives will also have the important job of attending Cole School Council meetings in the town's council chambers, working with other local schools and the local community.

Our new members will be announced next week!

Well done to all standing in the elections, it's a tough process!

A truly democratic process!

The School Council have asked all classes about fundraising and we have all agreed across school that rather than collecting for Comic Relief this year, we would like to prioritise raising money for the earthquake appeal in Turkey and Syria. We will be holding a sponsored non-stop relay event for the whole school on Wednesday 22nd March. All classes will take it in turns to be part of the afternoon’s non-stop relay. Children will need trainers and jogging bottoms or leggings on this day.

Please donate what you can to support this natural disaster appeal!

Want to be a Playtime Buddy?

Don't forget to complete your application form and bring it back by Thursday 2nd February!

Thank you everyone for supporting Friendship Day! We have raised a whopping £255 and still have some sweets left to sell another day!

The School Council and Worship Council have been working hard together this lunchtime making final preparations for friendship day.

Don't forget, you can buy sweets at the end of the day and all money will go towards buying friendship benches!

We will also be looking for those children who want to train as Playtime Buddies!

The School Council would love to thank Friends of Christ Church who are running a coffee and cake afternoon to contribute to our fund raising

and a huge SHOUT OUT to Tracey Bolton for fetching and making up all our sweet bags!

It's a great team effort laughyes

Preparations for Friendship Day!

Following our school survey, we found out that all children feel happy in school but sometimes some children don't always feel safe in the playground and some are worried they don't always have friends to play with. We have decided to solve this problem! We are planning lots of things through the year but to get it all going we are starting off with...

Friday 27th January 2023

laugh Friendship Day wink

  • All children will be talking about the meaning of friendship during their class worship session on Thursday 19th January.
  • On Friday, Year 6 children will read stories about friendship to all the different classes in school.
  • All children are invited to bring a book into school to share with a friend.
  • We will all be contributing to a 'friendship garden' display.
  • We will be working through the year on training children to be friendship buddies. Friday is the day that children can apply to be a buddy!
  • Sweet treat Friday - to raise money for our friendship plans, we are selling bags of sweets for £1 minimum donation in the playground after school.

Thank you for supporting us!

A big thank you to our fantastic School Council for organising Children in Need fundraising today. Children dressed up in yellow, spots or Pudsey Bear outfits, enjoyed buns baked by Mrs Sutton and have taken home colouring competitions. We have raised over £320 so far! Thank you everyone!

We are looking for people who have a bit of spare time and experience building and/or gardening to help us create calm and relaxing spaces in our playgrounds. We would really like to make some benches and flower planters to make quiet areas for playtime. We would also love to have donations of wood and pots or containers. We hope you'll love to help!

Thank you!

School Council

Here are some results from our survey which was to find out if we enjoy school.

Our School Council in action running their weekly Thursday lunchtime meeting. Today, council members gave feedback from the pupil survey we had done across the school. The overall view is that Christ Church Primary is a happy place to be. We'll share more details with you when we've finished collating all the responses. We also had a special guest today. Mrs Canipa came along to find out what the pupils had said about playground equipment and clubs. There were lots of ideas collected! Thank you all for giving us your opinions!

We had our first School Council meeting this week, on Thursday 22nd September. We talked about what our roles and responsibilities as School Council members are and I'm pleased to say that from next week, Jamie in Year 6, will be our speaker and Reggie in Year 4 will take the minutes. Heidi and Bethany will have a go at managing this web page and Lucy and Amber will take care of our communications through our school notice board. Other members will join in and help whenever they can!

The Council decided to conduct a survey across school to collect children's views about school and see if there is anything we can do to improve it. Together we discussed the questions we could ask and talked about how we would manage it. Hopefully, we'll find out that there are lots of great things happening here to keep us all safe and happy!smiley

Our School Council represents the views of all our pupils. It gives children the opportunity to make their voices heard and feel part of the whole school community.

Welcome to our School Council page.

Our second week back at school has been an exciting week! Our School Council members have been elected! It's been a hard fought battle with so many  children putting a lot of time into their nomination process, applications and speeches, before a vote in each class. It has been a truly democratic process, reflecting our British Value of democracy, an essential part of our culture.

We'll be meeting every Thursday lunchtime to discuss issues in school that are important to us and we'll be looking to organise and lead events, sometimes to raise money for charity. So watch this space to see what we're getting up to!

A big THANK YOU to all who took part and well done to our winners who will be announced on this page next Tuesday..
